Outpatient Mental Health Services
Children and adolescents are in crisis everyday and everywhere. Mental health problems can happen to any one of them. It doesn’t matter where they go to school, where they live or the kind of family they have. Many kids today simply don’t have the resources or support to handle everyday pressures. For those children and adolescents with mental health needs TCCSC is available.

Through our outpatient services we offer our services to children and their families, including diagnoses, evaluation, and treatment. Treatment may consist of individual, group, or family counseling, case management, psychiatric evaluation and medication management.
Our outpatient services are designed to exploit our belief that each child served is truly unique and understanding this uniqueness is the key to helping make positive changes in their lives. The goals of the program are to improve family functioning; reduce the risk of out-of-home placement; reduce psychiatric hospitalizations; work with DCFS to reunited children with their parent or kinship guardian; reduce the frequency of behavioral problems of children at home, in school and in the community, and increase parenting capacities by providing appropriate behavioral and coping skills training.

What are the eligibility requirements?
Anyone between the ages of 0-21 that meets standards as defined in the California Regulations Title XXII medical necessity are eligible to receive outpatient services.
The target populations are children, adolescents and transitional age youth having problems due to mental health illness that disrupts or interferes with daily living to the extent that without service, he/she would be unable to maintain current residence, succeed in school, engage in productive social activities and daily responsibilities, and maintain a stable social support system.

How are clients referred?
Referrals can be made by anyone including self-made referrals, through DCFS, Probation, or schools. Once the referral is made, a therapist will schedule an appointment to meet face-to-face with the child/youth, caregivers, and other adult or professional providers to provide an extensive culturally sensitive assessment, directing the treatment process based on the individuals/families unique emotional need.
Once a client is determined appropriate for enrollment, we organize professional and paraprofessional staff into teams. The paraprofessional works under the direct supervision of the therapist. The paraprofessional provides behavioral interventions as indicated by the treatment plan. This allows the client/family to obtain the most desirable outcome in the least amount of time.
